Pool Leak Detection in St. Paul, MN
Precise, Non-Invasive Pool Leak Detection for St. Paul Homeowners
When a pool is losing water faster than normal evaporation allows, the cause can be a physical leak somewhere in the shell, plumbing, or fittings. At American Leak Detection, we locate leak issues precisely, without excavating your deck, draining your pool, or damaging surrounding hardscaping. Our principle, Leak Detection Without Destruction™, isn’t a slogan. It’s how every service call is conducted.
Before any work begins, we give you flat-rate pricing upfront. Our “Know Before You Go” approach means no surprises on the invoice. Every technician is trained, background-checked, and equipped with proprietary detection equipment built specifically for non-invasive leak work.
If your St. Paul pool is losing water, don’t wait for the problem to reach your deck or foundation. Call American Leak Detection at (866) 701-5306 to schedule pool leak detection service.
The Original Leak Specialist™, Serving St. Paul
Most pool service companies treat leak detection as a secondary offering. We don’t service equipment, balance chemistry, or perform renovations. We find leaks. That singular focus, sustained since 1974, is why American Leak Detection is The Original Leak Specialist™ and why top insurers prefer and pre-approve our work to support faster, smoother claims handling.
The proprietary equipment we use wasn’t available off the shelf. We developed it because no commercial tool was built for truly non-destructive water feature leak detection. Our leak specialists complete a rigorous training program before operating independently, and every appointment ends with a complete written report: what was found, where signs of a leak were identified, and the recommended next steps.
Signs Your St. Paul Pool May Have a Leak
A pool naturally loses about a quarter inch of water per day to evaporation. Loss beyond that rate warrants a professional inspection. Several observable signs can help you gauge whether a leak is likely before you call.
Common warning signs include:
- Adding water more than once a week to maintain the level
- Autofill cycling more frequently than normal
- Wet, soft, or spongy ground near the pool or deck
- Air bubbles from return jets or equipment losing prime
- Difficulty stabilizing pool chemistry or recurring algae blooms
- Visible cracks on the shell, coping, or deck surface
Leaks frequently begin small in skimmer connections, return lines, or fittings and produce no visible surface change until significant water has already been lost underground. Our bucket test and the Swimming Pool Water Loss Calculator, both available on our website, are useful first steps for determining whether your water loss exceeds normal evaporation before you schedule a service call.
How We Locate Pool Leaks Without Destructive Digging
Our process isolates and confirms the leak location without tearing into your property. We use pressure testing on pool plumbing lines to identify which section is compromised, electronic listening equipment to hear leaks within the pool structure, and dye testing to confirm exact locations at the shell and fittings. Most inspections take two to four hours, depending on pool size and plumbing complexity.
We handle in-ground and above-ground pools, attached and freestanding spas, architectural and landscape-integrated fountains, and custom features including grottos and water walls. LeakVUE Services is also available as an additional offering under our Pool, Spa, & Fountain Leak Detection Services. Whatever the water feature, our approach stays the same: find leak issues precisely, document them fully, and leave the property exactly as we found it.
Schedule Pool Leak Detection in St. Paul Today
Every day a pool leak goes unaddressed, water can work its way into the soil beneath your deck and plumbing, which can turn a small fault into a much larger structural repair. Catching it now, during the active season, can help limit additional damage.

“I had an awful rotten egg smell as soon as I bought our house. After calling two plumbers (who charged me a fee to tell me nothing was wrong), the Gas Company (no gas leak), and the Public Works Department, I finally called American Leak Detection. They came in, investigated with smoke, and fixed the problem. For the first time in two months, my house doesn't smell like a restaurant toilet. Highly recommend them!”- Sandi T.

“I can't say enough good things about their service! We had a slab leak that flooded the master bedroom and they came as quickly as they could and then rearranged their work schedule so the repair could be made and we could once again have water turned on. The workmen were professional and efficient. I hope I never have to use that kind of service again but if so, they are he best.”- Carolyn R.

“Tree roots had cracked my filter pipes and I was losing water badly. I was referred to American Leak Detection and set up an appointment. Daniel came out and did his best to diagnose the problem. He got very strange results and it was hard to determine the exact pipe(s) that were cracked but since I'd had a similar repair done 6 years ago and we could see evidence of the tree root damage from above, I felt confident we knew were the issue was and I contracted for the work. I was pleasantly surprised to see Daniel return to perform the work. I arranged to be home that day so I could see what he found. I supposed I hovered, taking pictures of the process, asking questions as he went along. He never got annoyed and answered every question with a smile. I don't think i ever saw anyone work harder. It was obvious from that start he had a lot of experience and knew what he was doing. Digging out the area had to be done mostly by hand which he did efficiently without complaints. He found multiple pipes cracked which explained the odd results during diagnosis. The job took longer than expected because it was difficult work and he ran out of daylight but on the job until he it wasn't possible anymore that day. Even though he was fully booked for the following day, his company rearranged his schedule so he could return the following afternoon. I returned home early from work and was able to see him complete the job. He even patched the deck with new concrete like an artisan, taking every care to make it as smooth and neat as possible. After 30 years in this house, we have had many service people come to do work. No one has ever delivered better than Daniel. He was competent, diligent, and pleasant. The cost wasn't cheap but it was fair. I don't mind at all paying for quality service.”- String R.
